A father and daughter try to survive the steady decline of all they know in this haunting thriller from award-winning author Ronald Malfi. First the birds disappeared. Then the insects took over. The Night Parade was a fun and enjoyable story. The first few chapters were a bit slow and made it a bit hard to get into the story as most of those take place in the real world and the main character Saki isn't too likeable, especially at first.

But once the curse is set and Saki enters the night parade I really enjoyed this book/5. Saki's stuck spending the summer in the Japanese countryside at her grandma's house. But disaster strikes when Saki accidentally invokes a death curse. Cast into the Night Parade, Saki must prove her worth and escape&#;before death Brand: Sourcebooks.

THE NIGHT PARADE, by Ronald Malfi, is a book I've been looking forward to ever since I saw that it was scheduled to be released. As you can see by my rating, I was not at all disappointed. Malfi is truly gifted when it comes to storytelling in general, and characterization. As soon as I began THE NIGHT PARADE, I fell completely into the lives /5.

Parents need to know that The Night Parade is a stand-alone fantasy novel set in the Japanese countryside, where Saki Yamamoto encounters magical creatures from the spirit world. The book emphasizes the importance of family and ancient traditions.

The last thing Saki Yamamoto wants to do for her summer vacation is trade in exciting Tokyo for the antiquated rituals and bad cell reception of her grandmother's village.

The only monsters in this book are the human ones, but those are the most terrifying, aren't they. It's a great read, solid through and through, and will no doubt have a place on my "Favorites of " list at the end of the year.5/5.

The Night Parade instead breaches boundaries into a side of the Realms you never dreamed you'd see. If you don't like change or "different", then perhaps you better work your way up to this book but if you embrace books that /5(5). My book review of Pippa’s Night Parade. Initially, after reading the first couple of pages, I felt the plot might be similar to Firestarter by Stephen King, a book I really, really loved(!) but as the plot progressed I felt reassured that this book was not entirely like it.

Though the basic concept is the same. "I thought you might sleep through it." The creature smiled. Saki's voice was little more than a whisper.
